April is coming to a close, and despite it being “the cruelest month” we had some excellent programming! Looking ahead to May, there are lots of things to do at the library in the teen section.
5/1 Gaming Mondays continues with
Retro Gaming Mortal Kombat! Join Teen Librarian Sarah from 3:00-5:00 in the Nutrition Room for this fun opportunity to play against your friends and enjoy snacks! Special thanks to one of our patrons for volunteering their game to make this happen.
5/8 Cooking in May! Now that the weather is finally warming up, keep cool with these cold food recipes you’ll learn to whip up from scratch: salsa, guacamole, and gazpacho! Sign-up in advance is required. This program will go from 3:00-5:00; all materials are provided.
5/15 Anime & Manga Club will meet this month in The Gallery from 3:00-5:00. This month will focus on historical anime, pre-Astro Boy anime, and the development of the style as we know it today. Snacks will be provided!
5/22 Project Prom is kicking off its first year with a free hair tutorial program held at the Empire Beauty School in Peekskill, NY. This program is open to only 12 high school participants; preference given to those going to junior or senior prom. Participants will learn how to do different braiding and up-do styles at the Empire Beauty School Salon from 3:00-4:30. Sign up is required.
Additionally, we are hosting our first ever Build A Business series of programs on 5/5, 5/12, 5/19, and 6/2. This is a four session program where America’s financial system, banking, business basics and planning, and budgeting are all explained! Snacks are provided to all participants, and on the last day there will be a pizza party celebration. Sign up is required.
