June is (finally) here!

Snapchat-322761311June is here, and so are the new Chromeboxes and iPadsย in the Teen Zone! Brand new chairs and tables too! You can also expect to see iMacs within the coming week, so watch our Twitter (@field_teens) or our Snapchat (fieldteens) for updates on that and other upcoming events in the Teen Space.

Programming is also going to be kicked up a notch with programs happening on Mondays AND Tuesdays. Pop-up programs will also be occurring in the teen space. Our last two were May 4th– Star Wars perler beads craft, and also a Tissue Paper Flower making pop-up craft. You can see the results of that program on display for this month’s LGBT Pride Book Display in the teen space.

June’s first Tuesday program is great for any teen that’s feeling a little stressed out with upcoming State tests, Regents exams, and the end-of-school crunch. Make your own putty, perfect to help de-stress by mashing, kneading, and squishing!

All materials are provided, and putty is made on a first-come, first-served basis (or until materials run out). Meet in the Teen Zone on June 6 from 3-5 for this program!

Monday, June 12, and Tuesday June 20 are The Field Library’s two Battle of the Books General Interest meetings.

Are you going into grades 7, 8, 9, or 10 this fall? Are you a reader? Are you competitive? Do you like making new friends and free snacks? If you answered “Yes!” to any of those questions, Battle of the Books is for you!

Join The Field Library’s two coaches, Sarah and Petya, in the Gallery from 3-5 as they discuss the books for this year’s Battle, when, and where it’s going to be held, as well as practice times for the team.

All team members will get a shirt for the event too!
Sign-up for the team will open on June 12.

Tuesday June 13 will be a Teen Crafternoon! Interested teens can show up in the Teen Zone from 3-5 and make Pride Pins out of felt.

Minor sewing skills will be used and are easily learned. Materials are provided, and pins can be made until 5, or the felt runs out. Whichever comes first.

Teens who want to participate in this program are welcome to make more than one pin too. No sign-up is required, either.

Monday June 19 is the third Monday of the June. This is when The Field Library’s Anime & Manga club will meet!

June’s theme will be a redo of a previously cancelled one (Teen Librarian Sarah was out sick with a plague of some sort). The ever-popular Fruits Basket anime will be watched, and teens that attend will learn how to make the delicious snack onigiri!

Interested teens should come to the Gallery on June 19 from 3:30-5 to watch this endearing anime and smack on these yummy treats!
If you would like to attend and have an allergy concern, please contact Sarah either by phone 914-862-3290, or by email sprosser@wlsmail.org
